Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi is leaning hard into the romance, which may be the most ambitious part of the MCU solo installment.

While plot details of Love and Thunder are still mostly under wraps, we do know the film will serve as a Lady Thor origin story of sorts, and that it will adapt elements from Jason Aaron’s run on the Mighty Thor comic book. In that storyline, Thor has become unworthy and Jane, who is battling cancer, picks up Mjolnir and gains Thor’s powers. The only catch? Every time she becomes Lady Thor, she loses the benefits of her cancer treatment. If she continues to be Lady Thor, she will most likely die from cancer.

Although the exact plot details for the sequel haven’t yet been announced, it seems that our next visit to Wakanda will see us spend time with a range of characters while exploring the “mythology” of Wakanda more deeply.

It’s been confirmed that Wakanda Forever will feature the aquatic villain Namor, with official plot details recently emerging via Production Weekly.

Every upcoming Marvel series in 2022

1. Ms. Marvel

Release date: Summer 2022

A Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City, Kamala Khan idolized Super Heroes like Captain Marvel, never dreaming she’d have the opportunity to join her role models in safeguarding society from the forces of evil. With an Inhuman ability to alter shape and size, the newest Ms. Marvel employs an idealistic attitude as much as any power to make the world a better place.

2. Moon Knight

Release date: March 30, 2022

An official plot synopsis for Moon Knight provided by Disney+ reveals the series’ scale and teases the hero’s personality crisis, portrayed by Oscar Isaac. The summary spotlights Steven Grant, a “mild-mannered gift-shop employee” who suffers from blackouts and memories of a supposed second life. Over time, Steven discovers that he has dissociative identity disorder, and these blackouts are tied to his alter ego, mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven struggles to come to terms with his multiple personas, he stumbles upon a “deadly mystery” that ties him to Egypt and draws the attention of newfound enemies.

3. She-Hulk

She-Hulk is a 10-episode half-hour legal drama that finally takes us back to the world of the Hulk. We’re following Jennifer Walters as she tries to balance life as a lawyer and her newly discovered superpowers. We don’t have an official synopsis just yet, but Marvel Studios’ head, Kevin Feige, has spoken about the series and what fans should expect.

4. What…If? season 2

Release date: 2022

Bradley confirmed to EW that Season 2 will take a different approach to its stories, saying it will be different than the “end of the world” arcs we saw in Season 1. She said that Season 2 will “focus a lot more on the character stories and these heroes and showing a different side of them that people don’t expect and hopefully they can relate to.”

A more character-driven second season sounds like an interesting direction for What If…? to take. Especially as more characters enter the MCU over the next year, What If…? could be an opportunity for fans and viewers to spend more time with new characters. And, given the fanfare around the Guardians of the Multiverse, we should expect to see that team-up again.

5. The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

Release date: December 2022

While the plot of the special is still up in the air, Gunn did share some information on his Twitter account, where he teased the arrival of “one of the greatest MCU characters of all time.” Cryptic as always, Marvel is keeping fans in the dark about most of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, but here’s what we do know so far.

6. Secret Invasion

Release date: 2022

The story involves a subversive, long-term invasion of Earth by the Skrulls, a group of alien shapeshifters who have secretly replaced many superheroes in the Marvel Universe with impostors over a period of years, prior to the overt invasion.
